A Note to my Watchers

Sat May 30, 2009, 12:26 PM
  • Mood: Neglect
  • Listening to: Nothing.
  • Reading: Rising Sun -- Michael Crichton
  • Watching: Various animes.
  • Playing: Losy Odyssey -- Xbox360
  • Eating: Nothing.
  • Drinking: Nothing.
For goodness sake, please leave comments. I would, at least, like to know who--if anyone--is actually looking at anything I submit. The entire purpose of DA should be for getting comments and opinions on my work. That is why I came here in the first place in fall of 2007. If people do not start helping me at all, commenting and such, I may as well just quit DA. Those of you who are my watchers on here are pretty much the only ones who ever see my work, and you are notified when I post new things (unless, of course, you turned that setting off). So I would very much like to know if anyone actually does see anything I post.

Thank you.

A few fun facts. I am currently sixteen years old, and I live in the USA. I hope to become a Creative Writing professor one day, as well as continue to play the flute, and hopefully keep up with my art and such. So... that's me in a nutshell :]

And yes, one of the things I hope to bring to DA IS sarcasm. Because I'm sarcastic >_>

Oh and also. My name isn't really Daemon Sadi. It's a character from Anne Bishop's "The Black Jewels Trilogy," who I completely identify with X3

Heehee, just saw your username whilst browsing around the forums, caught my eye as I'm writing a novel with two of the main characters names Phoenix and Raven (although that is her surname). I thought it was quite an interesting coincidence and thought I might mention it. xD

Oh wow, that's great! XD

Raven is from Poe's story, and then I added phoenix to lighten the name, plus I also love phoenixes. So...

Wow, that's a weird coincidence.

Aha, I also chose Raven from Poe, and just Phoenix because it's a cool name. xD

Hi, you probably don't know me, but I was browsing the forums and saw your post about struggling with writing the beginning of a book. I didn't check to look for your other one since the first got locked, so I came to your page. :XD:

It's happened to me too, but I just recently plowed through and finished my novel. The beginning was one of the hardest parts for me, so hard that I had already written 14 chapters and THEN decided to write prologue to tie up loose ends.

Anyway, you said you might like some links. I found this article through another link about creating characters. It has a lot of helpful links, and some of them are about writing resounding chapters. I guess what I was thinking about as I wrote the beginning was something to set the scene (in my case to describe a previous story to any readers of the novel that was integral to their understanding of the plot). You might want to approach it maybe as a narrative or something.

Anyway, enough rambling... I hope I could help. :)

Thank you so much for the advice. It sounds like you had pretty much the same problem as I have now. I will certainly look at the article. I really appreciate your help, thank you :)
